Did you know that you can still contribute to your IRA for the 2012 tax year? The IRS allows contributions for 2012 to be made up until the tax filing deadline of April 15, 2013. You just need to be sure that, when you make that contribution, you specify it is for the 2012 tax year.
If you didn’t establish an IRA in 2012 but want to for that tax year, there’s still time for that too. You have until April 15, 2013 to apply for a traditional or Roth IRA account. Note: Just like the tax filing deadline, your application to open the account must be postmarked by midnight on April 15, 2013 to be valid.
Not sure how much you can contribute? Wonder if your retirement account qualifies for these “late” contributions? Give us a call today at 206-386-5455, and we can walk you through it. But call soon – April 15 is just two weeks away!
